As our early learners begin their journey into school, learning the importance of bus safety is an essential first step. On September 18, the Early Childhood Center held its annual Bus Safety Day, giving students hands-on experience in how to ride the school bus safely.
Throughout the week, the students learned about the rules of riding the bus in their SEL lessons- how to stay seated, keeping hands to self, using calm body, and following directions. On Thursday, they had the chance to put their lessons into practice. The children practiced walking onto the bus, greeting the bus driver, sitting down, buckling their seat belts, and reviewing the safety rules. They also participated in an emergency exit drill, learning how to leave the bus quickly and calmly if needed.
This experience was especially valuable for students who may not regularly ride the bus daily. A special thank you goes to our colleagues at Independent Coach bus company for providing buses and supportive drivers who were eager to help and make this important lesson both education and fun.
