Summer Reading

Students filling book bags

This summer, select students in grades K–6 are participating in the Summer Jumpstart Program, an engaging opportunity designed to help students maintain and strengthen their reading skills during the summer months.

On the first day of the program, students kicked off their learning by creating personalized book bags to use throughout the summer. Each student received a bag filled with reading essentials, including pencils, a pencil case, a pencil sharpener, stickers, and a bookmark.

Students were also excited to select several books to take home and enjoy over the summer. These books were generously donated by Book Fairies, whose mission is to provide access to books and promote literacy in communities.

The Summer Jumpstart Program encourages students to continue reading, exploring new stories, and building strong literacy habits that will help them return to school ready for a successful year ahead.

Students are also encouraged to visit the Peninsula Public Library and participate in its exciting Summer Reading Challenge and children's programs!
