First grade students at Lawrence Primary School studied holidays from around the world. Pictured below, first grader Camila Portillo used oil pastels, watercolor paint and glitter glue to create a firework display using warm and cool colors after learning about Diwali - Festival of Lights. Camila titled her work 'Celebration.'
In second grade, students discussed artist Piet Mondrian and his use of primary colors. Nathalie Gomez used tempera paint, markers and paper to create a bicycle using geometric shapes and lines. Nathalie titled her work 'Bike Ride.'
Both students have their artwork on display from February 17th - April 8th in the 24th Annual Colors of Long Island Student Art Exhibition at the Long Island Museum at Stony Brook. Thank you to our Art Teacher, Ms. Young, for her guidance and support for all our artists at Lawrence Primary School!
