Dear Lawrence Families, The Governor has indicated that schools may reopen in September and provide the models of instruction that address health and safety and the needs of the local community. Lawrence is currently planning to open offering hybrid ( alternating weeks of in person and remote) and a full remote model. Families will be asked to “opt in” if they would like full remote instruction and a form will be sent Monday. Please refer to page 30 of the guidance document found in the news section. We will announce our virtual information sessions next week. Thank you Stay safe Dr.Pedersen

Lawrence Reopening planning is following State and CDC guidance and focused on the safest way to protect our most precious resource, the children. We are preparing for instruction in a rotating or “Hybrid” model which alternates weeks between in school and remote. We must keep social distancing in school. A full remote option for families is a likely choice. Again, we await Govenor’s Orders on reopening, but our current thinking is the full in person model does not allow all children and staff to keep appropriate social distancing . Complete plan details will be released Friday. Thank you and please be safe and well. Dr. Pedersen

Good Afternoon, I have always been proud to work at Lawrence High School. I believe in the motto Diversity, Pride and Tradition and I think the students and staff represent the best of those values.Recent events in our country, the murder of George Floyd and all of the subsequent protests, during a worldwide Pandemic, have left us all with many emotions and feelings. I would like to invite you to join with me and some of our support staff for a 10th grade assembly tomorrow morning at 9:15. If you have class and would like to be excused I will notify your teacher. This is an opportunity for you to make your voice heard. We are here to listen. You can use the link for this google classroom, hope to see you then.

In these challenging times we would like to make families aware of an increase to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If families already get SNAP benefits, additional funding will be sent to the benefit card. Any family NOT already receiving SNAP, but qualifying for the school Free and Reduced lunch program will be mailed a card that will be able to be used in the same way. There will be payments for March and April, and another for May and June. The funding stream is not from DSS, rather from the Office of Temporary Disability Services. Families will not have to apply separately for this benefit.

Dear Lawrence High School Families, Thursday as Friday locker pick up will enable our facilities department to further clean the buildings. Social distancing rules are enforced at this time. Drive or walk up to the back of the building where you will give your name and locker number. Bagged belongings will be passed across a six foot table. It has come to my attention that many of our High School students are socially gathering during this pandemic . This is unsafe and not in compliance with State and Federal orders. Stay Home and stay safe. In any exception that you leave your home, such as locker pick up, follow strictly the social distancing six foot rule. Thank you Dr. Pedersen
