Lockdown, Lockout & Fire Drill Procedures

Dear Parents/Guardians:

In an effort to keep our children safe, the school conducts various drills throughout the year to ensure that we are prepared in the event of any type of emergency.  We consistently conduct fire drills so that staff and children are aware of the procedures to follow.

In the weeks ahead, we will also be conducting building lockdown/lockout drills.  A building lockout is a drill where all entrances to the school are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building.  A lockdown drill is when students and staff go to a safe part of the classroom in case of an intruder in the building.  These drills are important so that staff members are fully trained and know exactly what to do in case an intruder enters the building or is on school property.  I wanted to notify you in advance so that you are kept informed and ask that you to speak to your child(ren) about the importance of  these safety drills.

I thank you for your cooperation and if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 516-295-6200.

                                                                                  Yours truly,

                                                                                  Christine Moore
